Atlantic Storm

Outside
The storm grows.
Inside
Terror shows
That you have passed the point
Of no return.

Hiss, scream, shout
Punch, kick, snarl.
Frightened children crawl into corners
Shivering.

Fists, boots, face
Attack, attack, attack.

Fists clench, blows fall,
Curses call, cups fly
Thump, crash, hammer, smash.

The wild Atlantic foam
Beats upon the rocks.

Rage has overtaken
Your usual pain
The strain has fallen on the bodies
Of your small children
Blows reign.

Foaming, froth, fury.
Shoreline battered by hurricane.

Pain has blasted the barriers.
Dam of pent up passion has broken through.
Children scream in fear
Begging for mercy.

Soon there is a great hush.

Outside
The storm dies down.
Inside
We, too, die a little.
