Fragments

We have no time for each other.
Busy, purposeful people
With critical projects.
We have families
And responsibilities
Urgent activities
And we even admit that
We have no time for each other.

We have no time for each other.
Every minute of every day
Is eaten up
With busy lives.
How could we possibly
Be expected to have time
For one extra
Person or problem?

We have no time for each other.
Of course we rehearse
How very busy and full
Our lives are.
And how many problems
And responsibilities
Pains and anxieties
We all carry.

We have no time for each other.
Not so long ago
We used time and nature
Interchangeably
People were said
To have nature
For each other
Time, nature, love.

Sometimes we
Have great time for each other.
Our faces light up
Our eyes shine
At the very sight of another
Or at the sound of a voice
On the telephone
And we have great time
And nature for each other.

However much it hurts
And it does
Sometimes we simply
Have no time, no nature, no love
For each other.
Our lives become lonely fragments
In a whirlwind of activity
And pain.
